A Countess Below Stairs, by Eva Ibbotson

I really loved this book - the story of Anna, a Russian Countess who is forced from her home during the Russian Revolution with her surviving family. Now penniless, she is forced to find work, and ends up a serving maid at a wealthy English manor. Complications and romance ensue, and although the story was somewhat predictable, the author truly made the characters come alive to me, from the self conscious head cook, to the butler. Anna, especially, I fell in love with, as she was pure and real. I loved how light the story was, and how it all came together in the end. Sometimes you just want a happy ending, and this was the perfect book for that.

Such a great YA read - I gave it 5 stars and a PG rating.
