Journey to the River Sea, by Eva Ibbotson

A sweet children's book about an orphan girl, Maia, who is sent to live with some distant relatives in the Amazon. Excited at the prospect of a life in the jungle, she is disappointed in her circumstances upon her arrival. It is only with the help of her governess and a mysterious boy, that she is able to have the life she dreamed about.


I liked this story - it was sweet, simple, clean, and fun. A great book for older and younger children.  I give it 4 stars and a G rating.
