It's amazing how many literary awards are given out each year. The Nobel Prize for Literature more for specific educational needs. Pulitzer Prize is for Journalism. O'Henry Awards are short stories, most of these are published in magazines. Golden Kite Award Children's best writer and illustrator.
There are state awards and best seller lists you can get by each year. You can search under specific categories, Science fiction, Historical Fiction, Children's and more.
