This is a beautifully written novel about a hero born mute speaking only by sign, Edgar is raised by his loving parents on their farm nestled against the forest in Northern Wisconsin were they breed and train Sawtelle dogs. Edgar's best friend is his dog Almodine who knows his every thought and movement communicating through sign and love. Edgar's ideal life is turned upside down with the return of his Uncle. Edgar sets out with his three dogs on a brave and dangerous odyssey. He deals with the haunting truth he has discovered and becomes a hero without words but wild with emotion.
A few chapters are narrated from a dogs perspective adding rich character. You'll love this modern classic story of a boy hero and his companionship with his dog.
I rate this book PG and give it 4stars.
