I didn't enjoy this book like I hoped I would. It felt too contrived to me. I do believe that their can be close friendships across generations but I felt the author didn't develop these characters and their friendship enough. I was left feeling like I didn't have enough information to believe in this friendship. And the owl at the end? Did the author want us to believe that was the same owl in the clearing? I don't know much about the life cycle of an owl but it was completely unbelievable that it would be the same owl....it would be 70 years old. The Penguin book disappointed me (he he).
I give this book two stars. **
